Bare, dormant trees come to life with branches now covered with the soft clean white purity. Everything's untainted for a while, covered with innocence.
He rises from his sleep, ignores his master with an almost unrecognizable arrogance, he's carefully perfected over the past months he fell victimized. Ruling his surroundings, he eats when he wants, his bowl always full, water plenty. No job and no need to work. Just a lazy day everyday.
The television plays and he may gaze at the news, not always understanding what's on, usually not liking what he understands.
When he sleeps his dreams are of open lands ... of wolves or rabbits or wild mustangs on cold barren fields at sundown. Dense forests are filled with the beauty of innocence of his brothers; the animals. Or, when he sleeps, he dreams of life's inevitable conclusion.
During these lazy days when his dreams turn to death, he finds peace with his thoughts. The days will come when he passes and that day will be beautiful, for when he finds his brothers in the forest again, he will be back to a real world with innocence. Where the Forest King will keep him safe. For now, he will play amongst the "domesticated" animals ... so they're called.
However, he knows when the snow blows away and the evils of this physical world resurface, he must return to his comfortable couch or bed or floor cushion until another good day comes. The cat sits by a rainy windowsill watching the birds take shelter from the storms.
